Edwards Deming to go to Japan and help restore industry after World War II.\u00a0\u00a0He trained hundreds of Industry leaders in Japan on how to improve quality through statistics.\u00a0\u00a0By the 1970\u2019s, Japanese quality was widely recognized as superior to American quality and American industry struggled to compete.\u00a0\u00a0In 1980, Deming became known to American Industry due to a documentary on Japanese Quality.\u00a0\u00a0He began working with American companies beginning with Ford and Others.\u00a0\u00a0American quality and sales improved wherever he went.<\/p><p>In the 1990\u2019s, I was trained in the Deming Methods and Philosophies and went on to practice these methods as a manager in the newspaper industry until leaving to become a math teacher in 2004.<\/p><p>Mr Deming emphasized that at least 94% of the problems in production were the fault of management and not the workers.\u00a0\u00a0He also insisted that his methods worked in any workplace.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cThe only difference between manufacturing and service industries is that service industries don\u2019t know they have a product.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0We will define our product, determine how to measure it effectively and begin a continual improvement process to build a quality mathematics program at your school that will grow and improve for as long as the 14 points are followed.<\/p><p>This is a two-day seminar with follow up throughout the next year as the transition happens.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-4a5347fc elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"4a5347fc\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-4b92fcd\" data-id=\"4b92fcd\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6e746850 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6e746850\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This course is intended for school leadership and teachers. It will mostly be used for schools where I am contracted to help build a long term program but it could be offered as a two-day stand-alone workshop upon request, but we should have a conversation After ten years as an officer in the United States Navy and eight additional years in management, I decided to become a teacher of mathematics, physics and earth science. About ten years into my teaching career, I discovered that I was an ineffective teacher. I did some research and found that most other teachers were also ineffective. I did more research and changed my traditional teaching style to modern methods where students worked on projects in class and were allowed to be creative and thoughtful. I was now a more effective teacher, but I still had more research to do and I continue pursuing better teaching methods to this day. After two years of project-based teaching, I began visiting classrooms throughout central Indiana on my prep periods to run activities and talk about brain science and math methods to teachers. Now with 18 years as a teacher and having taught every math subject from 6th grade through AP and IB math classes, I am leaving the classroom to become a full time trainer.
